Last year, some dear friends of ours had a destination wedding. Many of their local LA pals couldn’t join in the celebration so Eddie and I decided to throw them a little “Mr. & Mrs. Party!”
For this party, I went with a coral / pink and gold theme with a touch of teal. If was early fall, so I added a few pumpkins. The scrapbook paper pumpkin was featured in our Mod Podge Pumpkin Makeover Video. For the cake table, I used a dollar store plastic tablecloth and some ultra rolled rose fabric to make a covering. The KT Scrapbook art was created by just collaging images and cut flowers from scrapbook paper. The “just married” banner was boring so I added some coral / pink paper behind the letters. The cute pink and gold geometric plates were from the dollar store.
I used this floral scrapbook paper throughout the party. To add a more festive mood to my dining room, I coved my family photos with collages from their wedding day. Wedding photos by www.josealvarado.com.
For this design, I used the scrapbook paper and some paper-cutouts left over from our photo props.
I really love how the gallery wall turned out. I used every scrap of paper I had. Since the photos were just ink-jet print outs, I used tape and a glue-stick to put them all together.
All of our guests have little kids. That is how this little group of friends met. So I wanted to have a treat that they would like. I dipped store-bought mini rice crispy treats into pink candy melts. The were gobbled up fast! LOL
For the entry way, I added a “Mr & Mrs” scrapbook paper so guests could sign a happy wish for the couple. I also added wedding themed tattoos and photo props.
Of course we had a toast! With a drop of hot glue, I added some rolled fabric roses to each little plastic champagne glass. I have a problem…. I can’t stop gluing stuff to stuff.
I made a sweet little heart cake with a…. box mix. Of course, I picked strawberry to match our pink theme. The heart cake pan was from IKEA and the cake topper was from Jo-Ann Fabrics. With the leftover cake batter I made a few cupcakes. I just couldn’t toss the batter.
We had a little toast and cake to celebrate this amazing sweet couple!
We had lots of nibblers too. It was a mix of grown-up food and kid friendly snacks.
I created this “Mr & Mrs” sign with…. Mod Podge and gold glitter. This glitter tips video will give you all the scoop you need to create something like this. I like how the gold pops off of my black counter tops.
We all had a lovely time celebrating Karol and Thomas!
We didn’t get raise our sparklers but we did get to raise our glasses!
Karol and Thomas had their wedding featured in this beautiful magazine ! Anuario Noivas #9. You can visit this link and scroll to page 82 to see more of this beautiful destination wedding.
AHHHHHH – Dreaming of this beach!
Lovely sister photo!
That is a wrap on Karol and Thomas’s “Mr & Mrs Party” – I hope these ideas have inspired you to think about things you can make or do for a Just Married Party. If you can’t join a destination wedding…..don’t fret you can always celebrate when the bride and groom return. xoxo
