I’m such a hound at the dollar bins at Target….. When I spotted the adorable wood pencil and apple, I just knew I had to make a back to school wreath. This wreath is a combination of stuff from the dollar store and stuff from my stash. It came together in under 25 min….. So I guess you can say this is an “under 30 minute” craft. Of course if you factor in the hours spent at Target, Dollar Tree and Dollar King…… It would be more like a “30 day craft” – hehe.
VIDEO HOW TO!
On of my favorite things on the wreath is the “choose kindness” patch. I found it in the dollar spot at target.
The Back to School Wreath decorations came from two different stores. The Pencil, Apple and Patch are from the Dollar Spot at Target. They were buy 2 get one free. The little notebooks are from Dollar Tree and they came in a pack of 3.
The wreath base is small in scale but fits perfect on my door. This base was $1 at Dollar Tree. The felt I had on hand from a different project.
I cut the fabric into strips with pinking sheers. For this wreath I used 4 strips that were approximately 1.5″ wide.
Start by gluing your first strip onto the wreath. I’m using a hot glue gun helper finger cap to prevent hot glue burns.
Wrap the felt strip around the wreath. Overlap as you go.
Keep wrapping till you get to the end of your strip and then join another strip. Try to do this on the back side.
Here is picture of the joined seam.
Oh look a glass of wine snuck into this project. hehe
Next, gather up all your decorations and make a design plan.
This yellow pom pom ribbon is a scrap piece from my shop. I am unfortunately all out of yellow but you can explore my other ribbons at my supply shop.
I wrapped the wreath with the yellow pom pom trim. I used a drop of glue to secure.
I glued the patch to the front of the red notebook.
I used hot glue to attach the decorations. I added a little ribbon loop at the top for hanging.
