It’s Halloween Tree time and this time we are rockin’ a spooky traditional orange, black and white tree. All of our 12+ Halloween ornaments are handmade from dollar-store items and Mod Podge. We are exploring napkin decoupage, paper decoupage, cheesecloth ghosts, glittering and so much more. Make sure you check out our Dia e los Muertos tree too.
The tree has 12 + handmade Halloween ornaments. In the video we teach you everything you need to know.
The black widow spider started out as a chip and dip bowl from the dollar-store. We applied Mod Podge Gloss to the bowl area and sprinkled chunky red glitter on top of the Mod Podge Gloss. The dry time is about 1 hour. We used a black pipe cleaner to attach the spider to the top of the tree.
I love how the spider looks on the top of the tree. We also sprinkled a few throughout the tree.
The skull display was a combo of a few items. The domes came from the .99 cents Only store. They were $1.99 each….. so much for .99 cents only. LOL The skulls were top-coated with Mod Podge Mega Glitter in Hologram. That just gives them a little sparkle. The leaf ribbon is from my etsy shop.
Originally we planned to use the dome skulls as large ornaments but they were SOOOOO big. So we used them for our mantel and the base of the tree display.
These cute coffin boxes were altered with scrapbook paper and Mod Podge. The decorative tombstones were made from candy molds and hot glue.
We didn’t add a hanger to the coffin boxes…..we just placed them on the Halloween Tree.
The marbleized drip…… or dirty pour pumpkins were made with Mod Podge Ultra (the spray Mod Podge) and Apple Barrel Paints. The foam pumpkins were $1 each and from Dollar Tree.
A new twist on Cheesecloth Ghosts! For this design we coated wood ghosts with cheese cloth and Mod Podge. I love the texture that the cheesecloth creates. Of course we add a few gems for eyes and details.
I love how they look on the Halloween Tree!
EEK! Doesn’t everyone need a cute little ghost at Halloween!?!
The glitter position bottles are so easy to make! All we did was pour Mega Glitter Mod Podge into a poison bottle from the dollar store. We spun the bottle to coat the inside and then poured the extra Mod Podge back into the bottle. They do take awhile to dry…..this one took 4 days to dry.
We created the poison beakers the same way as the poison bottles. The glitter is so bright! This technique works on glass or plastic.
Hello my pretty! I love the skeleton hand ornaments. This started out as garland that we cut up to create single ornaments. They were a dark bone color before we painted them with FolkArt Decor Chalk and Glitter Mod Podge.
We used yarn to create a hanger. We added silk and paper flower details.
We were able to make so many skeleton hand ornaments from just two strands of garland.
These cheesecloth covered skulls are so spooky! All we did was coat the dollar store skull with Mod Podge and then we added two layers of cheesecloth. For the eyes, we add Mod Podge and black glitter.
CREEPY details! The cheesecloth creates such a creepy look!
These cute spiders came with a light coating of fine glitter. We used Mod Podge to attach chunky glitter to the body of the spiders.
Napkin decoupage is one of my favorite techniques with Mod Podge. These spiderweb napkins came from Jo-Ann Fabrics. We decoupaged around foam balls from the dollar store. Ours come in a set of 3 balls for 1 buck!
We glued rubber spiders to the ornaments and trim around the ball to create the hanger.
We did the same technique on glass ornaments. I love how they turned out and ya know what…… they are soooo easy to make.
UGH….. these ornaments created a huge mess for me! I should have used ultra fine glitter. We needed too many coats of glitter to cover and it got all over my house.
We blinged out and glittered some dollar store tombstones. Just apply Mod Podge and sprinkle glitter over the Mod Podge. Use Mod Podge to glue gems.
They are perfect around the base of the Halloween Tree!
Thanks for stopping by! Watch the video for all the how to instructions for the Halloween Ornaments! Happy Halloween! xoxo Cathie and Steve
