Recipe Hot Tea Totties
Ingredients:
3/4 cup steaming hot tea (your choice)
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons good quality whisky or bourbon
1 tablespoon honey
1 cinnamon stick
Steps:
Combine all liquid ingredients in a footed mug, add the honey and stir with the cinnamon stick.

2 cups confectioners’ sugar
3 tablespoons butter
1 ½ tablespoons Rum
1 teaspoon milk or water
Steps:
- Melt butter.
- Mix in sugar, rum and milk (or water)
- Dollop in center of 5 cookies. Sandwich with other 5 cookies.
- Chill 30 minutes to set. (remaining frosting can be refrigerated for several weeks.)
Project: Leather Log Carrier
Supplies:
Faux leather (16” X 28”)
Flannel fabric (same size as faux leather)
Leather needles
String
3/4” Webbing (16”)
Leather lacing
Wood burning tool
Clothespins
Pinking Shears
Steps:
Cut the faux leather and flannel to a rectangle that is 16” X 28”. Pink the edges of the flannel. Place them wrong sides together. (for ease while sewing, hold together by clothes pinning around the edges)
Whip stitch around the edges of the log carrier with the string and leather needle. Use one piece of string for each side of the carrier, knotting at the corners. Each piece of string should be 3 times the length of the side you are stitching. Stitch through both layers of fabric. (if using clothespins, remove as you go)
Creating Handles: Cut webbing into 16” pieces. Using the wood burning tool and a small tip, burn 4 holes in each end of the webbing about 1/2”-1” apart. Center the webbing along the edge of the log carrier and form a “U” shape with the webbing. Attach the handles by lacing thru the holes with the leather lacing, making a crisscross shape.
Collage Matches are so fun to make and they are perfect for using up scraps of paper!
Project: Decorative Matches
Supplies:
Large box of kitchen safety matches
8 12/ X 11 piece of scrapbook paper
Glue stick
Alphabet stamps
Circle punch
Scissors
Steps:
Trim the paper to fit / cover the top and bottom of the box of matches. Glue stick the paper to the top and bottom of the matchbox and use your fingers to press out any air bubbles.
Using your circle-punched circles, stamp letters on each circle punch. Then glue them onto the box. You can get really creative here. Family names and fun sayings like “light my fire” are great options.
You can add extra layers of paper and scrap booking embellishments. You just want to keep all embellishments away from the striker.
Project: Bean Ball (Candle Holder)
Supplies:
Styrofoam balls
Hot Glue Gun
Dried beans (pinto, black, kidney, etc)
Craft knife/kitchen knife
Candle
Marker/pen
Piece of felt
Tacky glue
Steps For The Dried Bean Ball:
Starting at the middle of the Styrofoam ball, hot glue the beans to the ball. Make sure you work in a straight line across the ball.
Steps For the Candle Holder:
Cut a slice off of the Styrofoam. This will act as the base to the candleholder.
Set the ball on it’s newly cut base, making sure it’s stable. Take your candle and hold it on top of the ball. Now trace around the outside of the candle.
Cut around the traced area on the ball until you pop out the center.
Push candle into hole.
Remove candle, and start gluing beans. (see above direction)
Take a piece of felt and place it over the (bean free) base of the ball. Cut around the felt so that it fits over the base of the ball.
Glue felt piece down over base, using tacky glue. (this is just a protection, so the Styrofoam doesn’t scratch any surfaces)
(Decorative tip) Stick pieces of cloves in spaces between beans. They give a great fragrance to any room.
Stick candle into hole.
