Delilah is celebrating her first Dia de los Muertos. She is in a Spanish immersion kindergarten / school. Yesterday they decorated and built a classroom alter. She brought a photo of Eddie’s dad to display. I made her this tee for her special day. It’s a mash-up from a thrift shop t-shirt and a Cat & Jack tee from Target.
These are the tees I started with.
This tee was from a different school. So snip snip was in order. Begin by cutting out the design. Leave a large border around the graphic.
Cut a piece of fusible webbing to fit the graphic.
Iron the fusible webbing to the back of the graphic. Don’t use steam.
This is the paper portion of the fusible webbing should be facing up.
She loved love love this look for today!
Cut out the motif. I added a border around the graphic for hand stitching.
Peel the backing off the webbing.
Position on the tee and iron to attach.
I used a rainbow of colors to stitch around the appliqué.
To save time, I threaded a bunch of needles and did random stitching.
I used gem glue to attach lightweight plastic gems to the appliqué.
I love the little black gems on the teeth.
Delilah loved the extra sparkle!
Delilah all ready for her school celebration.
Feliz Dia de los Muertos!
