Steve is a HUGE, “Halloween” Movie (1978) fan…. so much so that he is going to a Halloween Movie Convention. Before he heads out we decided to make him a tee. We were totally out of bleach pens… so we improvised with toilet bowl cleaner with bleach and the results were great…. with very low bleed. This is my new favorite way to do bleach projects. We also went to Hollywood and filmed the opening to this video on the street were the Halloween homes are located. The house above is where Michael Myers gets shot and falls off the balcony….. or where Jamie Lee was babysitting. The house below is were the bodies were found….. yikes!
Video How To!
The materials we used:
Pre-washed T-Shirt (Black 100% cotton)
Freezer Paper
Cutting Mat
Masking Tape
Marker
Craft Knife
Disposable Bowl
1″ Flat Paintbrush
Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Bleach
Trace or sketch the image you wish to create onto the paper side of freezer paper. Freezer paper is wax on one side and paper on the other. Use a craft knife to cut out the pieces. Save any pieces that you will need for masking out details.
Center and Iron all the pieces needed to complete the design with a no-steam low-heat iron. Be sure to iron the small detail pieces too.
Like I mentioned above…. we used toilet bowl cleaner to “bleach” dye the shirt. Pour the cleaner into a disposable bowl and use a 1″ flat paintbrush.
Watch How We Made It!
Working quickly, apply the cleaner with a brush. This doesn’t bleed as much as bleach pen. So we thought you get a much sharper edge. Try to bush from the outside edge in so you avoid getting cleaner under the freezer paper.
Wash with detergent, rise and dry immediately after completing the design. You will want to do this right away to avoid any fabric holes or stress.
Wear with pride….. Happy Halloween!
