When I spotted this fabric at Jo-Ann Fabrics, I flipped out and fell in love with it! I wanted to make something for my new little nephew and with the cold months ahead of us I thought a sleep sac would be perfect. He loves it, his momma loves it and his daddy does too! Next time, I would make the neck a little bigger for more room to grow. Other than that it was a simple and quick project to make.
The fabric is from Jo-Ann Fabrics.
Following the directions…..cut of the back and two fronts of the sleep sac.
Working right-sides together, pin the shoulder seams together.
Sewing Tip: Use low-tac tape as a stitching guide when working with bulky or long pieces of fabric.
Double stitch the seams. (sew two rows close together) Also – sew a hem around the neckline.
Pin and sew down the center seam.
On the backside, open the zipper seam (front center seam) and press flat with your fingers. Pin or tape your zipper in position with the teeth and pull facing toward the seam.
Attach a zipper foot to your machine.
Sew the zipper. Stitch down each side.
Open the zipper with a small pair of scissors or a seam ripper. Remove all loose threads. Hand stitch the fabric zipper tabs to the inside of the sleep sac.
Fold back the hem on the sleeves, pin and sew using a double row of stitches.
All stitched and ready to wear! This McCalls baby sewing pattern (4236) was easy to whip up and baby Tucker likes it!!
