Oh my gosh….. I joined the PTA board and now I have created projects for myself…. LOL. We are hosting a park play-date and I suggested friendship bracelet making. So I needed a table…..and if you need a table you need a tablecloth and if you need a tablecloth for kindergartners….. you need one they can’t pull off. So I made this simple card table cover using felt and fun school bus fabric.

Felt is a good choice for this project because it is durable and it comes 72″ wide. I placed a large square over my table. (right side down) and pinned down the edges forming wedge shapes.

Next, I sewed down the pinned area on all 4 sides. After sewing, I trimmed the “wedges” off. I kept the extra fabric for a runner.

I turned the table cover right aide out and placed it on the card table. I pinned the center of the cover.

I added a square of decorative fabric to the center. I ironed and folded the edge back around all the sides. I folded back about 1/2″. I used the pins in the center to help line up the square. I also just eye-balled it. I pinned around the outer edge to secure the decorative cloth to the felt cover.

I stitched around the decorative fabric to secure it to the felt. I also hemmed the felt.

With the extra scraps of fabric, I sewed a matching table runner. This I used on my 6ft table.

I used a clipboard as a guide for the runner. We have 4 language programs at our school so I created space for each language with the decorative fabric in between.

I just loved this school bus fabric! One thing I love is that it features kids of all colors and I love that the buses are driving through outer space. I hope the kids think it is as cute as I do.
