I love painted peg people! They are so fun to make and even if you are not a great “painter” I promise you can whip up some of these St. Patrick’s Day Leprechauns with just a few brushstrokes. Last year, we did a video tutorial for how to paint peg people. I posted the video below. Check it out so you can get the scoop on the basic steps for making the peg people.

I started with a collection of FolkArt paints and some wood peg dolls. The dolls can be purchased at almost every craft store and online too.

I first painted wood peg dolls with two coats of a leprechaun skin tone.

Next, I painted hair and beards on the dolls. I used bright orange FolkArt paints for the hair.

Next, I painted the first layers of clothing in a few shades of green and lime green.

To finish the dolls off, I painted faces and clothing details. I used Mod Podge to attach glitter to the dolls. Of course, I used gold glitter. I used hot glue to attach little hats that I made from felt.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from our house to you! xoxo Cathie
P.S. I know……. That really should be an Irish beer. LOL
