Glittered Superhero Shoes with Mod Podge and Flair Patches
I made these shoes for Delilah to wear to her joint Superhero Birthday Party. (LAST YEAR) Because I am so crazy super busy, I am just now blogging the the party and the things I made for it. That reminds me that I haven’t even blogged their cowgirl party yet. I’m possibly the worst blogger ever…… but, I am one heckย of a party planning mommy! Delilah loved them so much! She was so proud of her new kicks. They were super easy to make and I’ll show you each step.
Little Delilah all dressed and ready for her Superhero Party. Her costume was purchased from Costco. I was lucky to score her a Supergirl outfit and Sophia a Batgirl costume.
My little superheros! Batgirl and Supergirl!
You want to start with a plain pair of shoes. For me the color didn’t matter because I was covering the whole shoe.
I’m using these Superman sewing patches for the tops of the shoes.
I’m also using a few different glitters, paintbrushes and Mod Podge Gloss.
Apply the Mod Podge to the shoe where you want to apply your first glitter color.
Sprinkle glitter over the Mod Podge. Allow to dry.
Glitter both shoes and allow to dry.
Top-coat with a layer of Mod Podge to seal the glitter.
Begin with your next color of glitter. Apply the Mod Podge to the shoe.
Sprinkle Glitter over the wet Mod Podge.
Do both shoes with the blue glitter.
Top-coat seal with Mod Podge.
Add gold glitter around the edge of the shoes.
Dry brush off any excess glitter.
One last top-coat seal with Mod Podge Gloss.
Gather some Heavy-guty glue. I like E6000.
Glue the patches to the tops of the shoes.
Secure with tape until the patches are dry.
Wear with pride and tell all your friends…… “My Mama made them for me!”
Delilah loved her shoes so much! She wore them and wore them until she finally outgrew them.
Happy Superhero Birthday Party!
