Napkin decoupage has been a favorite craft of mine for years. The results are so pretty and the best part is that with Mod Podge they are super easy to make. This technique works on almost any type of surface…..wood, terra cotta, paper-mache, glass, canvas….etc. This project was part of a Spring Decor series that we did for JoAnn Fabrics, Plaid Crafts and Facebook Live. You will find the video with all of the projects below.
Baskets or bowls filled with pretty, decorated papier mache eggs is a springtime favorite! This collection of eggs combine solid pastel painted eggs, glitzy metallic gold painted eggs and accents of decoupaged eggs simply created using a napkin and Mod Podge! These are so simple; the kids will love helping to decorate!

Instructions:
Painted Eggs
1. Using a 1/2″ flat paintbrush, paint each solid color egg with an application of the FolkArt Multi-Surface paint in the color of your choice. Allow to dry; then reapply for opaque coverage. Allow to dry.
Metallic / Glittered Eggs
1. Basecoat each papier mache egg with Metallic Antique Gold using the 1/2″ flat brush and allow to dry. Reapply a second coat for opaque coverage. Allow to dry.
2. Add a layer of sparkle to the metallic gold egg by brushing a coat of Mod Podge Mega Glitter Gold over the dry basecoat. Allow to dry. If extra sparkle is desired, brush additional applications allowing each to thoroughly dry before adding the next.
Decoupaged Eggs
1. Using the same large flat paintbrush, paint each papier mache egg, that will be decoupaged, Wicker White. Allow to dry; then reapply for opaque coverage. Allow to dry completely.
2. When decoupaging napkins to a surface, the first thing to do is separate the ply of the napkin and use only the top tissue thin printed layer of the napkin. NOTE: Sometimes separating the ply can a little tricky as some napkins are only two ply whereas others are three ply; be sure to use only the top printed ply.
3.Once the ply has been separated, carefully cut around the leaf designs including a halo of napkin around each leaf.
4. Load a medium sized flat brush with Mod Podge Matte. Brush a smooth layer of Mod Podge onto the basecoated egg. While still wet, place a section of napkin over the Mod Podged area. Press in place on the egg, then brush over the napkin with another application of Mod Podge. Continue adding sections of napkin until the entire egg has been decoupaged. Allow to dry. NOTE: When decoupaging napkins to a surface, because they are so thin, the paper napkin may wrinkle upon itself. Do not worry as this simply adds charm to the project.
