Layered Jello cups are so easy to make. You only need the basics and a little time. Ok, lets be honest….. time is really valuable so you might be a little cray cray (like me) if you make these. I do promise lots of ohhhs and ahhhhhs. Plus little ones LOVE them. Can’t get enough of them love them.
See how much they love them…… gobble gobble!
I have made these before with a rainbow effect and that took a lot longer than the Red and Blue version. I promise they are simple to make. (remember you just need time) I use sour cream for the whipped layer. I think the tart is the perfect balance with the sweetness of the jello. Some folks use whipped topping, but for me that is too much sweet taste. The kids actually prefer the sour cream.
These are adorable for any patroitic holiday: 4th of July, Presidents Day and Memorial Day. I think they are cute for nautical parties too.
Let’s Make them!
Ingredients
1 large box of Blue Jello
1 large box of Red Jello
1 Small Tub Sour Cream
24 Plastic Glasses (5oz size)
Ice
Fresh Berries
Prepare the blue Jello using the quick chill method on the package.
Using abut 2/3 of the liquid Jello, fill the plastic glasses with the first layer of jello. Place in the refrigerator for 40 minutes. (I like to use trays or cookie sheets to keep them balanced.
Add 1/3 cup of sour cream to the remaining liquid jello. Mix with a spoon to combine. The sour cream will look a little curd-ish or chunky. Keep stirring until the cream is dissolved. This will create a baby blue color.
Pour over the almost set first layer of Jello. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Repeat the process with the Red Jello.
Top with fruit, whipped cream, nuts, sprinkles or coconut flakes.
Grab a spoon and enjoy! xoxo cathie
