Thanks!!!! Off to check it out!
My tees always get holes around the tummy area (still haven’t figured out why). Do you have any ideas how I could make over these tees that would allow me to wear them outside the house.
Reverse applique would be perfect.
Do you ever lean against the counter when you get ready in the morning or in the kitchen? I would bet the holes just come from being worn out from being rubbed between a belt/jean button and the counter. It happens.
it’s absolutely from rubbing against things.. If you’re against a counter and wearing button-up pants, the metal scratches through your shirts so easily.
I have them too in nearly all my shirts! I think it’s from the seatbelt rubbing them against my jean’s button.
LOl Anonymous! Do you have an front loading washer? I heard this can cause holes in the belly area. Also the button area on jeans can cause holes. I think you might need to add some cute appliques or embroidery!
Mine totally get holes in the tummy area, too! I’ve been trying to narrow down the cause forever… no luck yet, though! 🙂 Good to know it’s not just me!
this is so interesting…. I get these tiny holes in the front of my shirts too. I do have a front loader washer, but why would they make holes just there??? I wonder about drawer handles under the counter top…
Its not the washer putting holes there. When you rub against things it thins the material in the tummy area. Then when you put it in the washer it thins the material more usually causing the holes. Front load waswhers use less water and throw your clothing around more than a top load washer. Try washing your tshirts seperate on the delicate cycle 🙂
Anonymous, I have a friend with the same problem…turns out her shirts were getting just slightly caught in her seat belt in her car!
A possible reason your shirts get holes in the belly area may be because you rub up against the counters after you wash them with cleaners. It’s a thought????
Could be! It is so odd! 🙂
I think mine catch on the stick part of my belt
Mine too! Personally I think it happens when we pull up our pants and the shirt gets stuck inside, then we pull it out. Perhaps a small piece of shirt material gets zipped up with the zipper. Just a thought? lol
My tshirts ALSO get holes around the belly area! It drives me nuts!
thank you so much 🙂
For some reason, none of these links leads to anything but a picture. 🙁 I’ll have to unpin….
You have to click the words under the picture…..that takes you to the tutorial.
Great list! I used it as the “craft of the day” on our facebook page. Check us out at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Brushes-and-Thread/231012056980834.
you are amazing to come out of so many cool good ideas. it’s really good tips for us to design tshits by ourselves
thank you so much for sharing. it’s good post
I found that my desk at work has a “sharp” piece in the plastic trim at the front just left of center and my clothes catch on it and pull. I stopped wearing “good” blouses and keep an “office sweater” when I do wear something “nice” that I want to protect.
For t shirts with holes in the tummy area, I cut small round pieces of fusible interfacing, and carefully iron it on the wrong side of the t shirt. Use white or black, depending on the color of the t shirt. It’s not perfect, but it helps, and may prevent the holes from getting bigger.
